Is there autopilot for friendships?
No way. To sustain, you must maintain. Now and then (or more often) we must “ping”* our friends with a visit, a phone call, a letter, an email, or a text. I wouldn’t count a tweet or Facebook comment or “like”, except as a supplement. We humans are social—wired for contact and community. Our friends need these, and when we give them, the friendships grow.
Want to improve your friendships in 2015? How about rekindling some old ones and maybe starting some new ones along the way?
*I got the idea of this use of “ping” from Never Eat Alone by Tahi Raz and Keith Ferrazi.
